Our first day we went to see the sand dunes. A lot of other tourists were climbing Dune 45 so we found our own dune to climb. The wind was howling and the going was slow, but it was still pretty amazing.
After overexerting ourselves climbing the dune we spent the rest of the day hanging out beside the pool, with a break for some school work of course.
It was an early start on Wednesday to drive out to Sussusvlei to see the sun rise on the sand dunes. We were treated to beautiful scenery with the odd gemsbok, springbok and ostrich wandering past.
We were heading to Swakopmund but three kilometers from Solitaire the gravel road got the better of us and the Land Rover rolled, landing on its roof. We were all fine, no major injuries.
The next two nights were spent at the Solitaire Lodge, a lovely place with a great dinner and breakfast buffet (bonus) and wonderful staff.
So, slight change of plan. We are now back in Windhoek, we’ve got a new Land Rover and we leave tomorrow, heading for Etosha National Park.
Wow. I true African experience if you crash!!! Hope you guys are all ok. Drive carefully on those African roads. Trying to snow here today in Twizel. Have fun. Bridgetxx
