Cuenca is in southern Ecuador and the weather was still on the cooler side as its at 2500m. Like Quito, Cuenca has narrow streets lined with old buildings. Unlike Quito's old town some of the old buildings are home to modern shops. We spent 4 nights here and time was spent wandering the streets, checking out the markets, sampling the food and the last full day was spent visiting Cajas National Park.
They love their pork and its skin over here.
You can even buy microwave pork crackling in bags just like popcorn.
Cuenca is the home of the Panama Hat.
There are factories, hat shops and evan a hat museum.
...and there are many colours and styles.
Tana hasn't quite got the local rain attire happening.
She's short a hat and a plastic bag to go with it.
LLlama (pronounced yama here) excitement: the first ones we've seen.
Cajas National Park
The park is between 4000 - 45000m, so it was a tad chilly at times.
An old brewery
The Continental Divide
The Quenua tree grows at the highest altitudes of any tree in the world.
It was like being in a fairytail.
